I found this lively, attractive space while photographing the interior of the new Cambridge (Massachusetts) Public Library. It might be a suitable venue for a variety of events. But alas, no reception for library volunteers will be held here; no modern art or photography exhibit will be shown here; no visitors' shoes will ever scuff the red tile floor. Why? Because the space is imaginary, its image an illusion. Rotate the picture left 90 degrees to see the reality: a mini-atrium perched high above a stairway. The "floor" is actually a wall, the "wall" a skylight window. Frankly, I wish the architect had built it my way!
