Western Rosella

The Western Rosella Platycercus icterotis, is the smallest species of rosella and is found in the South West of Western Australia in Eucalypt forests and timbered areas.

A very nice shot of this gorgeous bird. I saw quite a few other types of Rosellas when I was there in 2009, but they seemed to be very hard to get an actual shot of. That makes this even more impressive.

All of the rosellas are beautiful and bright. I haven't seen this one before ...... the details and colours are excellent!
