Even though I've commented on this before, since you told me of it's inclusion in a Courtauls School of Fine Art exhibit, I had to say again that it is one of my favorite images of yours (and many others as well apparently). Congratulations again, Kal, so well deserved.

Once in a Blue moon.Again we see so many people in a small space but totally oblivious to each other.MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!!!!! and i love the touch of sarcasm the picture adds

Kal!!! This is so you. I don't know if you remember when I commented on the image from the Shanghai exhibit with the very intense couple....she turned out to be an art piece! This has me feeling the same way....I would not put it past you to come up with such a convincing scenario. I am in awe.

You are master of this genre -- you always take it one step beyond the expected. Many photographers would stop at the point of photographing someone looking at a painting. But you add layers of incongruity by flanking this viewer with a pair of people listening to the audio tour who are looking at us instead of the painting. And they are perfectly placed as visual bookends, too. The final incongruity, of course, is the painting of Marat, murdered in his bathtub. He sees none of this, not even us.

Hilarious and tragic!
Made all the more pertinant with the incredibly emotional nature of the painting.
Utterly brilliant. I'd like to hang this on my wall.

The Message is the message.

Striking 21st century technology misuse! Instead of looking at "L'assasinat de Marat", and building their own opinion, these 2 TV addicts turn their back to the painting and listen to the pre-cooked interpretation. So good!

Oh my god, Kal. I am knocked speechless by this image. It says everything about today's world!

It's been a long time since I stopped and looked at work longer than just a few seconds. Thanks for seeing, capturing and sharing. Voted, of course.

Best regards,

Outstanding shot Kal, I think Jacques-Louis David will like it so much :)

Wow! This is such a fortuitous shot. Hilarious! I just recently read an article on this phenomenon of people reading the signs or listening to the commentary but not really looking at the paintings.
This is one of the most brilliant captures I have seen in a while. Very very well done!

What an interesting scene.
Guenter Eh20-Sep-2007 18:15
Two are using the audio tools to listen to the explanations - without looking at the painting! The guy in front of the painting read the written description on the wall. So - I can understand the despair of Marat! Genius shot Kal!
