It's easy to be attracted by the lovely painted and brightly colored umbrellas, displaying "glamorously" under the sunlight. Yet you brilliantly chose to include a contrasting straw hat, with the similar purpose of providing shade to the owner but in a more humble way. Very well seen and thought, Kal. Just the way I truly admire and adore :-)

Delicate parasols so fragile and nicely decorated.

There is no better way to bring out the richness and beauty of color, Kal, than to play it against an abstract background. The primary colors here are vivid and very, very Chinese. I used a similar concept in photographing some stacked and dirty Kayaks at a resort in Costa Rica:http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/25451656

What a yummy darkness down the back... It's great... specially that little part where a ray of light on the hat seems ready to unveil all secrets.
The umbrellas give a great colorful toucj to the compo while adding to the mystery...
Great one.
On a more shallow level, they just remind me of a good cocktail ;)
