Christine expresses the nature of beauty perfectly here. I find it very fitting that this image of an older person can trigger such a profound response in a sixteen year old viewer. Photography knows no boundaries. It bridges nations and generations. Your photograph speaks of a way of life, and those who live it. We respect this subject, regardless of how she may look. And that's because you respect her, Kal.

Excellent capture and composition. The b/w treatment brings the focus to the person whereas a colour version might distract you away. Nicely done. The natural facial actions are perfect - no fake smile for the camera. Well caught.
When I see an older person, I forget what she/he looks like especially if he/she has a nice smile or attitude. Sometimes, I try to imagine what that person looked like when he/she was young. When I meet great kind people, I always forget the way they look. Our connection is all that matters. I know people who are not aesthetically great looking, but who look great in my heart/mind. An accident, a stroke and other problems can change the "envelope", but not the essence of a person. This is without considering what each culture considers as beautiful or not.
