Excellent shot, stunning colors and funny ping-pong. V Roberto

Straight out of the 20D, but well exposed. No noise reduction. I use noise reduction at 3200, and use Noise Ninja plug-in. K

yes, i agree with all. you really got a special eye for things around us, Ka. well, i am still quite curious how could you make this photo without any grain at iso1600? any tips?

Great shot. V

I've been studying in the background for some time here and I'm in awe of your consistency Kal. Your work is truly inspired, and this is no exception.

China, indeed! Looks so familiar:-)

Great balls of fire!!! One simply must wave the white flag when faced with a masterstroke like this. And thank you so much for making me feel like I played several rounds with Jan-Ove Waldner.

Excellent.

one of the best pingpongping I've EVER seen ;-))
fantastic shot my friend...

BTW: I could not agree more with Phil. The camera does not matter. It is the photographer. There are many great photographers out there using point and shoot cameras and coming up with work that out weighs the ones with top gear.

Basically it has to have soul. You got it.

My last sentence should have read: "In this bouncing comes the message repeated here: old China vs. New." Sorry. Phil

Ana -- it's not Kal's camera that made this image. It's Kal. I know you are only kidding, but too many people still think that various cameras can make a lot of difference. They don't. Any camera in the hand of artist such as Kal is going to produce fine images. (And conversely, any camera in the hands of a snapshooter is going to make snapshosts. ) As for this image, it's always a special treat for me to see you use color so well, Kal. I know your eye favors black and white, but you are just as, if not even more, expressive when you turn to color. There is nothing as eye popping as translucent red, and you politicize the image with an almost equally magnetic Chinese flag. If the ping-pong references here are tributes to your ability to repeatedly bounce the eye back and forth, I would certainly agree. In this bouncing comes the message of repeated here: old China vs. New.

Kal I'm delighted, thanks...(tears to my eyes...).
I imagine you know red and yellow are the colours of our local Rome Soccer Team...
You, the Glowball man... thanks again...

Wow! Great ping-pong-ping-pong... ;-)
And, most of all, a very good image, of course. I love the well balanced composition, the light coming from the inside the lamps (of course), this great red and the black background.
Guest 06-Jun-2006 15:40
I think I find this one of your best images. It's a composition narrowed down to the very essence of China. V.

Superb!
Guest 06-Jun-2006 15:26
China Red. I really like how the flag appears to be all blurry yet we're able to see one of the stars quite clearly. Wonderful work, Kal.
Guest 06-Jun-2006 14:34
Wow,the red,the yellow,the black....did I mention the RED???
Fantastic low light shot,Kal!
Fun ping-pong-ping too . V

caveman_lee06-Jun-2006 14:27
very nice ! red is red !
Guest 06-Jun-2006 14:12
Cool title, indeed!;) ... I like the composition too (and the quality of the image) as well as this PingnoP party. Inspired candidates!;))
Ana Carloto O'Shea06-Jun-2006 13:42
Eheheh... what a cool title.
I like the composition and mostly the darkness all around that makes the reds really pop up from the screen.
Also... I am in total wonder how an iso 1600 photo like this one does not have any grain... God! I want a camera like the one Kal has :(((
Just kidding up there on that last line ;)
