You are right -- you make it less scary, but then lose the viewer in the empty reaches of its context.

I agree Phil. My least favourite out of this set of images. I actually think that I have created too much context here that has no meaning and so they are lost in it.

The people are less skeletal, but the environment is so vast and empty, it offers a soulless context to this image.
