This framing looks almost like a mirror. A lady in all her simplicity and a clean environment.

This one is great. I really like the framing within the framing and the fact that she is so focused on doing what she does probably every day. Like you said, this place is quite touristy, but once you get into the little lanes and alleys you can come up with interesting subjects. Good work!

What a great capture Kal. It's a precious detail to have this image framed naturally by the door, or better, by the frame of the door. Like Phil said we are indruding in her privacy but she is not aware of out presence at all. She is completely lost in her chores, but seems to be doing them with much pleasure.
It's such a beautiful image Kal. I really love it.

Thanks Phil. A wonderful lady, who though we could not communicate (she could not understand my Mandarin) allowed me in to her life for a few minutes on Sunday, she knew I was taking the photo, since I had already taken a few portraits of her outside, and she had returned to the house. She was alone, and I fealt like she was going through the motions, the routine that she had carried out for as long as she had lived.

A superb image, Kal. You use framing brilliantly to imply depth, the stool echoes the frame of the door and the table echoes the frame of the stool. It is as if this is a tunnel to the past -- a woman prepares a meal, as she has done for a lifetime. And as the title says, that lifetime is drawing to a close. Your distance from the woman abstracts her -- it gives her a sense of privacy, even though we are violating it. The frame within a frame within a frame context is incongruous and elegant composition. The human values expressed include: duty, habit, wearyness, and care. It is an image I can't stop looking at. One of your most expressive.
