an amazing moment suspended in time, Kal! the composition is so well balanced in every detail, and becomes even more impressive considering it was an spontaneous shot. a true piece of art!

i like this one better than the monk on the balcony.it's the winning contrast and the backlit flame of color.if limited, i would still choose the monk group over this one because of the intimate expressions.

Nothing more to be said beyond what's been said already, but what a fine shot - vote!

Kal, this is an amazing image. It's a good example of how to use light and shadow to express idea. It makes me feel peacful by just watching the monk walking into his world...

Love this one as well, the moment is quite amazing indeed. If photography is all about the capture of light and moment together, than you've managed to do it perfectly here. Excellent work!

And a fine image becomes even more expressively coherent by cropping out the extra reflection that used to be on the wall at the left hand edge. A perfect example of what HCB used to call the "recognition of an order." You saw the door, the light, the man, the meaning and used your reflexes to instinctively nail this shot. Was this a matter of luck? I am sure some might say so. But it took instinct and skill on your part to find this moment in light, time, and space and make it matter.

Hi Phil. Not staged, and all real! Not even waiting for the right player here, just a split second of reaction to passing by the right place at the right time. Will look at the crop tonight.

This image is so graphically powerful it almost looks as it the guy is a model and you staged the whole thing. It is simply too good to be real, Kal. The color is striking, giving the figure its identity as a monk, and the room as a cloister. If that is not the case, the color has misled us, and perhaps this image would work better abstracted further by black and white. Trim off the left edge to remove the distracting wedge of light on the wall. It reminds in a way of the concept behind my own image "Golden Thoughts" athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/40195205 -- there is the same theme of an abstracted figure walking away from us into a golden light source. For you, the golden room symbolizes enlightenment -- which perfectly matches your title. For me, simply the act of thinking thoughts warmed by another golden light source.
