Hue was the Imperial Capitol of Vietnam, built by the first king of the Nguyen Dynasty. Hue has been a main cultural, religious, and educational center of Vietnam. The older section of the city is a moated, walled citadel surrounded by eleven stone gates, and encloses the Imperial Palace.
