Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. There are also caves in several of the limestone islands in the bay.

Unfortunately the area has become such a tourist magnet that just about everywhere you go you'll find several "Junks" in the area, either on day, or overnight, cruises.
