For the first time in the year and a half that this ship has been doing the Antarctic tours, the expedition leader decided to take the ship about 150 miles further southwest and try to cross the Antarctic Circle. This is something that very few tours get to do without getting into the really expensive expeditions. The Circle is at 66º33'S and you could certainly tell that we had traveled into a lot colder area of the Antarctic. This was one of the unexpected highlights of the trip.
