69th Infantry Division:
The Fighting 69th.
The 69th Division was activated as a component of the Army
of the United States on May 15th, 1943, with Headquarters
at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. The Division embarked for the
European Theater in November of 1944 and arrived on December
12th in England where it continued to train until
January 24th, 1945
The shoulder patch of the 69th Division was approved
April 30th, 1943. The two stylized numbers "6" and "9"
represent the unit's designation, and the colors red, white,
and blue are the National Colors. For correct display,
the "6" should always be red and the "9" blue.
