The division was composed of National Guard units from
the states of Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Washington,
and Wyoming; all are states which took part in the Indian
Wars campaigns. A red and green rosebud, enclosed in a
McClellan stirrup, symbolizes the Rosebud Campaign which
took place in the geographical area of the division.
