Silay

I spent a two nights staying at the Fortuna Pension House (shown below) in the town of Silay on the northeastern oast of Negros. The place was a centre for sugar production, and some of the family houses there are as old as a hundred years!!! Over here that is very old. The town had a lot of character, and was a nice place to wander around.

I was born and raised in Silay City from the families of Melgar, Villa, Talotalo & Jison. I haven't seen Silay for a long time. ILL see you soon Silay. Cheers.....

I had a chance to visit Victor Gaston's house in 1998. I was so in love with the place. A friend took photos in various places of the house. Something creepy showed up when I saw the photo of myself against the Austrian mirror, a portion of my face was covered with mist on the mirror. Had goose bumps when I saw it. I still keep the photos though. Will definitely visit the place in the future!

Pangarap ko makita ang Bayan ng Silay, naririnig ko ang mga kwento tungkol sa ganda ng mga lumang bahay duon, salamat sa mga larawang ito na kahit paano ay nabigyan ako nang pagkakataong makita ang bayang matagal ko ng gusto marating, tunay na naaliw ako sa mga lumang bahay,tulad ng mga lumang bahay sa amin sa Bulacan.

The picture marked "siesta chair" is actually a chair used for giving birth in those days. The extra-long armrest serves as a stirrup for the woman giving birth.

Thank you for the beautiful pictures of Silay. I grew up in Silay and my family (Pasco and Solanos) have lived in Silay for generations. It reminded me of my childhood--those pictures. Thank you. Socorro Pasco Houston, TX

the first years of my childhood was spent in silay. my grandfather is nicholas jalandoni.

Having been to Silay (and not taken any pics there) I was amazed to find someone else had actually been there. It's a bit on the sleepy side, and I think you have managed to capture that in your photography. But the San Miguel tastes just as good there as in Bacolod or Cebu. Congrats on your album. Brian

It surely remind me of the past. kudos to your beautiful pictures of the Philippines. you surely know how to photograph the not so beautiful and the beautiful part.
