Deal Castle

Deal Castle dates from 1539 and was built as part of a line of defence forts. Henry VIII ordered castles to be built at Walmer, Deal and Sandown. It is built in the shape of a Tudor Rose.

There is not as much to see, either inside or out, as at nearby Walmer Castle, but it's still worth a visit if you are in the area. Managed by English Heritage.

Some of my photos are now available to buy in a variety of sizes and finishes, or as digital files, at SerenityPhotography.co.uk.
