Day Out on Bohol

I hired a motorbike and went off to explore the Chocolate Hills and visit the Philippine Tarsier Foundation (more details at http://www.bohol.net/PTFI/).

The road to the hills was not too bad and sealed most of the way, although the journey to see the Tarsiers was rather nerve-racking, being via a rough road with lot of loose stones. A bike that kept stalling didn't help either, but it was all worth it to get to see these odd little beings, that are currently on the endangered list.

Tarsiers have got to be one of the freakiest little creatures on this planet - the pictures really don't do justice to how strange their manic grins were. They are not, as is sometimes said, the world's smallest monkeys; as sign in the visitor centre said, this is inaccurate for two reasons: they are not monkeys but primates, and they are not the smallest primates.

Some of my photos are now available to buy in a variety of sizes and finishes, or as digital files, at SerenityPhotography.co.uk.
