It was a very cold month in southeast Louisiana with temperatures dipping into the 20's and teens for more than 8 nights. The cold front at the end of the month caused roads interstate highways to be shut down for three days because of icy conditions. Any road or bridge with water underneath was dangerous. Because we are not accustomed to this kind of weather our transportation departments do not have salt trucks to de-ice the roads , nor do people know how to drive on icy roads. The safest thing is to shut down.
