I did not recognize this young man until he came up to me and introduced himself.
Following Hurricane Katrina in August, 2005, I hired him and his brother, who were in college and high school, to help us take floors and furniture and rugs out of our flooded house, then move on to do the same in my daughter's house. They also removed all the debris and fallen trees from our back yard. It was about 98 degrees when they were working outside and there was no shade because all the leaves had been blown off the remaining trees. Inside the house with no electricity it must have been 120 degrees. They worked steadily and were so pleasant to work with. They truly helped us get through the trauma in those first weeks after Katrina.
Now he is working for the Corps.
