A Once Beautiful Shotgun-Style House

Forstall Street in Ninth Ward

The name shotgun house means--if you stand in the front door and shoot a gun the bullet will exit through the back door because all of the rooms are aligned likewise.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Wonderful photo. Petesie - lots of homes were built without closets -- hence the wide use of armoires -- as closets were once counted as additional rooms.

As I recall from my visits to New Orleans they were built that way to save on taxes. Am I right? I know this was a lovely home at one time....
