Porch or Gallery

Metairie, Louisiana

The end to the series, finis. I promise. Welllll, maybe one more--I still have my gallery at Perilloux Place to photograph.
We have tens of thousands of these FEMA trailers in southeast Louisiana since Hurricane Katrina. They are like little tin cans but provide a home to people who have lost their home or who need a place to live while repairing their home. This one is in a driveway in my neighborhood. My block has 10 trailers in it.
The lady who lives here has a great sense of humor and said she was not going to live with that tacky porch that FEMA built so she prettied it up with plants.

Interesting trailer with the heavy duty door and very few windows. It looks like FEMA resorted to commercial units to keep up with the demand. I hope that she gets back into her home soon.

Great end to a fantastic collection of porches.

another interesting and significant take on the porch theme. this dwelling looks rather cramped, glad to hear it's only temporary.

Quite a variety of porch styles. Nice to see the personal touch. She's still in control!

Good for her, Coleen ~ Poor thing... that looks so hot & stuffy from the outside; I hope the A/C works! Good for her that she put her plants out there ~ God Bless.
Great series, Coleen. The Perilloux Place will make a perfect finish ~

Some people in WV would consider this a fine home. :) Geez, I can't believe that FEMA made the porches handicapped accessible. Good thing you don't have snow or ice there. That would be a challenge to get down. Looks hot as heck.

Wow, they have hardly any windows! Is the bump on top an air conditioner? Kerry

Quite a neat series of porches, now you've pretty much ran the whole gamet. Hope these folks get back in their homes soon.

Good for her....A sense of humor will get you through so much and you have all been through so much.

You thought of everything! This was the only way to wrap up the beautiful gallery series now that I see it.

This has been a great series Coleen.
Because of it I now think of my porch as a gallery.
In fact, we will soon remodel it so we can spend more time out there.

At least we were spared this. I am so sad for all of the people who are still not able to get even a trailer to live in.

Porches are important in Southeast Louisiana!
