Fleur de Lis Drive--Someone's Once Happy Home

The flood water washed away the soil in most of the neighborhoods near the break in the levee.
This was once a lovely neighborhood where families celebrated their children's lives. Children walked to school, church and the playgrounds. This was the tax base of New Orleans where working class lived together--doctors, plumbers, lawyers, electricians, business shop owners etc. Now it is all empty.
Notice the water line on the house. I said I would keep up this photo journal for a year but I get heartsick each time I see this. I venture to say this area will be the same on August 29, 2006, one year since Hurricane Katrina.

Unfortunately we agree about the status one year later. Most of the people that we
knew in our groups that lived in New Orleans have left - permanently. Looks like the city will never be the New Olreans that we knew.
