Christmas memories of childhood

Montz, Louisiana

Decorating the mantel for Christmas brought back a flood of memories. When I was very little our family grew sugar cane. There was always a great effort to harvest all the cane and get it to the refinery before Christmas Eve so everyone could enjoy Christmas. Many times the last load went in on Christmas Eve. This painting which hangs above the mantel is titled "The Cane Wagon" by Robert Rucker.

A lovely Christmas story and the poinsettas make an excellent frame.

Very nice, and I bet less was on the road. This time of the year, cane is everywhere! The color is great.

A great tribute to those who worked so hard and who still do in many parts of the world.

In the days when the task was really hard. Sugar cane is grown not far from us Coleen so my minds eye can visualize your story.
