A few of the birds returned today while I was sitting there and I think I recognized this couple and I think they recognized me, too . They got to work quickly building their nest and she is delighted with the stick he brought for the foundation.
They look a lot healthier than the group I shot far back in the swamps and a lot cleaner, too. Their mating feathers are snow white and silky. The light is much too bright but I could not resist.
P.S. March 22, 2011 SINCE THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN THE BIRDS ABANDONED THEIR NESTS AND FLEW AWAY. THE TRAUMA OF THE CORPS' ACTIONS WERE PROBABLY TOO MUCH FOR THEM. THE ROOKERY IS NOW ABANDONED.
