This bayou has no oil in it because it is several miles from the Gulf of Mexico and hopefully we will have no hurricane-driven winds and tides to bring oil into this bayou.
It is almost three months since the BP well exploded and millions of gallons of oil are still pouring into the Gulf of Mexico. We now have oil in Lake Pontchartrain which borders New Orleans and feeds into Lake Maurepas which pretty much will surround us.

People have been forced to give up their beloved pets because with no fishing available they can no longer afford to keep them. It was heart-breaking to see beautiful family pets, some with litters of puppies, being loaded into trucks to be taken out of state for adoption. It had to be a very wrenching thing for both the pets and the owners. It was difficult enough for me to watch a beautiful golden retreiver being loaded in a crate with her puppies.
