Left home at 3:30 this morning with Scott Schexnaydre for a two hour drive to catch the sunrise at Elmer's Island on the Gulf of Mexico. We met PBaser Phil Orgeron on the Island. Scott and Phil both had their big gun cameras as well as waders. The wind was blowing cold and I sat in the truck for a while and shot from the window. Probably my surprise of the day was spotting this osprey on the beach eating a huge fish it had caught. With the beautiful piece of driftwood covered with the blowing sand as its prop it was almost as though it had posed.
The osprey is the only raptor who dives into the water to catch its food.
