A new hotel in American Samoa! It is a good sign indeed. As I was there 1996 the only hotel in Pago Pago was the famous/infamous Rainmaker. Following recommendation I took my room facing the Ocean, avoiding the never ending noise from the fish factories in the inner bay. Even this could not stop the fish-smell on some days, and their kitchen was really bad. I enjoyed however my quiet moments on the beach, which was very densely populated by crabs.
I toured the Island usaing Aiga busses, end even crossed one smaller Island off Tutila. I wonder if the cable car cable still spans the bay.
