This is one of the most beautiful valleys on Oahu. Unspoilt by urbanization.
Why the name Makua (parent or grown to maturity) is given is not known. There used to be a densely populated thriving community in the valley.
During World War II the military started using the valley for training purposes.
This valley is currently off-limits to civilians. It is still used for military exercises and contains much unexploded ordnance.
