Queen Elizabeth National Park is in western Uganda. We spent three night in this park in August 2006. The first two nights were at Jacana Lodge, upmarket accomodation in the north part of the park. It is in an isolated location on the edge of a lake. After driving to Jacana from Fort Portal we checked in and then went for a game drive in the area near Mweya. We returned to the lodge during the heat of the day and then went for another game drive before sunset. We were lucky enough to spend some time with a pair of lionesses.
The second night we drove to Ishasha Camp in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth NP. The accommodation consisted of a rather primitive banda with an outhouse whose only contents was a slit in the floor. We went for a game drive in the evening, hoping to see the tree climbing lions the area is noted for. We hoped to arrange a game drive in the park ranger's 4x4 truck the next morning, but the weather turned wet and they seemed reluctant to take us.
