Story 7 (The Door to the Outside) "The End"

Dover Castle Underground Works

I first came here on our family holidays in the 1950s.
A guide would show the party round and would tell the story.
Once, as a lad, I came down from London off season.
The guide at the top just gave me an oil lamp and sent me off on my own.
You don't get much light from one lamp but you do get great big sh-sh-shadows!!

They fitted electric lighting before I brought my wife and children down in the 70s.
The Guides were a thing of the past, but I enjoyed explaining it all in a loud voice to my family and other passing folk.

Now I have brought my grandchildren down here. How the time has flown!!

Thank you for reading this.

Thank you Peter and Helen.

I was always fancied about castles. On europe tour I had shot many castles from far, wondering how it will be to see inside. THis gallery was interesting not just because of pics but your explaination. Sitting in India I could go through this Dovers castle. Thanks a lot for this. I did visit Dovers but not the castle.
