We had a very pleasant 5-6 mile walk today.

I love shots like this. We don't see these quaint little things in San Diego! (At least I don't know where they are). Wonderful texture.

Nice to see a mile post like this. As Gregg said ours are pretty much boring. New England probably has some like these, though.

Neat milepost. Looks kind of Roman. More interesting than the white on green painted metal mileposts we have in the States.

Hey, I've seen these, before! I used to see more of them when I was a kid - and they used to remind me of the story of Dick Whittington (sad but true!).
There is a spot at Richmond park where you can see St Paul's cathedral through the trees: there is an arrow pointing in the direction of the cathedral and a clear (ish) path that leads the eye to it. I can't remember the distance, though.
Hope you enjoyed your walk - that's a good old hike on a rainy day like today!

You could ALMOST walk to London!! And with the traffic like you describe, it MAY be faster!
