A "normal" load for the porters is 30 kilos, or 66 pounds. Since there appears to be no work rules against it, some porters carry two normal loads, or 132 pounds. We were told that some porters can walk the 35 miles from Lukla to Everest Base Camp in two days. This trip can take the ordinary trekker up to eleven days.
