Hi Daniel. I don't pay much attention to "light settings." Rather, I look through my camera for rich lighting situations and I compose my photo from there. In this case, what you want is a soft single light aimed downwards in a relatively dark surrounding. It could be a beam of window light in a dark room, it could be a strobe light through an umbrella. Because of the soft fill and medium fast drop off into shadows, you can expect that the soft light source was close to the subject. If the light source was farther away (the sun, for example), then you are dealing with a directional beam of light, like a spot light.

Stan, I'm now living in Beijing.
(moving to a new place and stuff got me away from photography)
sometime soon I want to start taking photos.
.... I love this photo and thinking about taking one photo like this of a friend of mine.
Can you please tell me which light setting did you used for this photo?
