Making Repairs

Home, living room

My GPS battery quit holding a charge. I could only run the GPS as long as it stayed plugged in with the car adapter. I called the manufacturer and was told they did not carry replacements, but they would be happy to sell me a newer model GPS unit.
Instead, I searched around online and found a higher capacity battery that was actually smaller in size so it easily fits in the available space.
After a little soldering, my GPS is back together and charging.
Hopefully, all will now be working properly and I should have a GPS that holds a charge longer than when it was new.

EDIT: After fully charging the new battery, my GPS unit held a full charge on the way to work this morning. That's already better than the old battery which would not even run for 30 seconds before shutting itself off. The new one still shows a full charge and I'm going to run for a few days like this to see how long the new battery lasts before completely draining. But at the moment, I'd say my repair job was a success. Total cost: less than $18, including shipping and handling.

You are so good.....glad you got it fixed...beats buying another one. They make stuff to break so you have to spend more money. It's a conspiracy I say! Good work, Scott!
