EBIFC responded to the Kids Room a business in Mid State Mall for a reported smoke condition. Ladder 809 responded and was raised to the roof so firefighters could check the A/C unit. 5t was learned that in an adjacent, vacant business, workers were using a torch to cut and weld metal which was in fact causing the smoke condition. Fire Mrashal Bill Johnson who was on the scene immediately shut down their operation and summoned the building inspector. The scene was photographed and all the EBIFC units were released. Asst. Chief James Varick was the commander in charge of the scene.
