Night Flight - Hawkmoth (manduca sexta)

In Our Garden

We've been receiving evening visits from a variety of Hawkmoths the past few weeks.
Finally, after talking endlessly about it, I got the camera out and tried to capture one.
Tricia tracked it with a flashlight while I tried to find and get it in focus.
The 135mm lens helped focus in the low-light conditions. Diffused flash was used.

Canon EOS-1D Mark III ,Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM
1/160s f/2.8 at 135.0mm iso640 full exif

Well done Sayer (and Tricia)! It's difficult to capture such a great image in daylight, let alone in the dark!! ~v~

Wow! Excellent job capturing this very challenging subject. The yellow markings are quite striking!
