The first shot shows the typical view we got of the many eagles along the river. We went up a sub channel where a small river flows in and saw one going into the trees. As we moved closer the eagle took off and flew down-stream several hundred yards. When we went there the eagle dashed upstream so that trees obscured our view. We played this game for several trips and and finally went well upstream and just drifted down-stream about 30 yards off shore. But as we got close, he (or she) again took off again. So we did the drifting down the far side (about 80 yards or so from the eagle's tree). I finally got some shots with the longest lens I had (300mm). The first is a full frame shot which gives an idea of the distance. The second is an approximately 2X blow-up cut, the last is a 4X blow-up cut.
