Trengereid, 30/12/2013

Hi everybody, I just came back from a somewhat rainy shooting ride at Trengereid/Vaksdal.
Weather forecast was promising after 13:00, so I took the train from Bergen at 12:49 after spending an hour at Sentrum having a snack and watching the general movement after Christmas.
After arriving at Trengereid, guess what? Yes, the everyday rain, so I had to wait around 15 minutes to finally walk around and check the spots I saw so many times going to Voss. With the rain coming and going every 20 minutes...

Since I wanted to test my new tripod on soft terrain close to the water and see if it could stand some winds, this is the equipment I used:
- Nikon D7000 with Nikon 24-70
- CPL filter
- Manfrotto 055-XPROB
- Nikon Deluxe bag with lens cleaning kit, bubble level and a varm ost & skinke sandwich
- Remote control
- Rokk rain coat
- Gloves

Both the camera and the lens are weather sealed, so I didn't bother bringing an umbrella as it wouldn't protect the front element from water drops anyway. That's why I had some paper and lens cleaning kit, and even so some photos were wasted beyond recovery.
The combination of this tripod and the camera/lens gave me a very sturdy platform, even under wind and water touching the tripod legs, no shake at all. Yes, the 055-XPROB is heavy, it weights nearly 3Kg with the head, plus 2Kg of the D7000 + 24-70, but I wouldn't be walking 10km with it anyway. Important to note that even with temperature around 3, 4 degrees Celsius (not too cold), the aluminum legs are cold to the touch with the gloves, so having the rubber around 2 legs really helped carrying it.
In the end the day wasn't even far from being sunny as I imagined, so the CPL didn't change colors dramatically and barely removed some reflections from the water, I used it more to darken the scene by 1 to 1,5 stop, cleaning it between rains.
So that's it, I hope you enjoy some of the pictures and sorry to not post too many of them, most were already erased in-camera and I take too long preparing for each shot. :)
