Chateau d'Ussé is beautifully located between Chinon forest and the river Indre. Still private property, a lovely castle to visit. Built in different periods (15th and 16th century on the remains of an 11th century Viking fortress) and in different styles (gothic, renaissance and classicism) makes it a delight to look at from across the river.

The castle inspired Jean Perreau to write fairytale "Sleeping Beauty". When you climb one of the towers, you can look inside rooms where the fairytale is reinacted by puppets.
