Fantastic display. Still shots can't demonstrate the movement life of tonights aurora. Very well defined, moving a great deal, swirls, shimmering...very beautiful.

i envy the beautiful view. It has been since the last round of CMEs in Nov since I've seen the auroras in duluth and also in Grand Marais. Keep posting em! It gives me hope to check out the alaskan perspective

You had a great night ! I can see through your pictures that the lights where really dancing that night :-))

I have not seen them since november : most night have been cloudy around here the few time I had a chance of seeing them. Maybe later...

Highly unusual. Is it possible that this had any correlation to the 9.0 quake perhaps causing oscillations/reverberations in the earth's magnetic core, and consequently in the planetary magnetic field?

I am absolutely 'gobsmacked' ,as the British would say, by your photographs. I tripped over this site while looking for something else, but have now bookmarked it, as it is an absolutely stunning collection of photos. I have had the pleasure of seeing some great displays of northern lights throughout my lifetime, but none compare to the pictures posted. Thank you for sharing!!

These are terrific! I love what the full moon did to illuminate the ground and add color to the sky. Very special! I have been watching all the websites and just dying because it looked like we've had activity several times in the last few days and we've had nothing but clouds! Kim

Very impressive!
I was in the interior in June and wished I had picked another time so to see the aurora like these.
I saw the ones in early November [here near Minneapolis MN]
Please keep taking them. I'll control my salivation :)
