I had one of my frequent 'bug hunts' in a handy hedge today and came across this gorgeous red beetle. I got a few shots of him, before he got bored posing and flew off, this being my favourite. He has just paused at the edge of the leaf to peer over the top to check for possible predators (not that he's particularly observant, he has a camera 2 inches behind him !!). The image I keep getting in my mind is of a First World War squaddie peering over the top of the trenches.
As always, I find all comments and thoughts helpful and they are much appreciated. Thanks.
