Single Strobe Setup

Here I have the 550EX mounted on a FLEX TT5 and hand-held it in various positions around the subject in an attempt to get some really dramatic low-key lighting. The flash was set at FEC -1. The head of the flash was placed inside the opening of a "beer coozie", which had a small dime-sized hole in the bottom. This is the aperture from which the light escaped. I merely pointed the light at the subject from various angles and distances and fired the shutter using a remote. This is a SMALL smaple of the images taken ~ most were hopeless loosers. But from the ashes of these loosers came a few interesting keepers. Note the color in some of the images ~ this "coozie" is a light orange/rust color. The coozie must have glowed with light when the flash fired ~ and this provided the little bit of rust color seen in some of these images. There was no post-processing of any of these images. They were shot RAW and simply cropped and resized for the web in LightRoom!
