This is a screenshot of the original RAW image displaying the default Camera RAW settings. Note on the histogram that there is clipping on both ends ~ in the shadows and the highlights. Clearly this is a wide dynamic range image. Adobe Camera RAW has another way to see how clipping is displayed ~ you can actually see which pixels are clipped in the shadows and the highlights.
