By this point of the season the "gobsmacking" male Bay-breasted Warblers had largely passed through, with a wave of females coming behind them. On this day stormy, wet and windy weather drove the birds down lower and led to extraordinary views even by Magee Marsh's heady standards. The following few days were dominated by the sorry sight of chilled birds feeding extremely low to escape the wind that led to some of the best migrant viewing possible anywhere.
