Taken using a Canon 1Ds and EF600mm/4L IS lens with stacked 1.4x and 2x extenders, yielding 1680mm focal length. Aperture closed down 1 stop (to f16). Baader Photo Density Solar Filter. Shutter speeds around 1/3000sec. Manual focus. Mount used: Celestron CGE, polar aligned using a simple compass. Location: Jabal Akhdhar Hotel, Oman, 23deg 5' North, 57deg 41' East. Elevation 2036m. Timing accuracy 5 seconds.
