My Form VI studies ended in December 1962, but all universities in the West started their academic year in September/October. So, basically, we had some 9 months to waste, waiting. So some of us got temporary jobs with the Electoral Commission for a few weeks. The registration cards for the elections had to have a photo of the bearer, so numerous photography teams were set up to register every voter. The above is a photo of our photography team on tour around the countryside. We had a great team spirit, and somehow we decided to stop in the middle of nowhere to have a group photo, camera on the ground, on self timer. My King George VI Secondary School classmates, Mohsen and Abdulla Haroon were in the same photography team, above.
