The Nikon F100 was introduced in 1999. You know a camera is good when you've bought
and sold them, and then re-buy them again.
I got my first F100 in 1999. Sold it. Got another one. Sold it. Now on my third body.
Keeping this one!
Solid build with super speedy and accurate autofocus. The only "negative" for most people today
is that it shoots film, which I love of course, but I do have to admit film is a bit "fussy" compared to
shooting digital, especially with the superb digital cameras we have today.
And it's hard to deny how fast film is dwindling. It's a dying art.
If you cannot afford or justify an F6 (which I can't), this is the second best Nikon AF film SLR you can buy.
The F5 might get my vote as the best AF Nikon ever, others would say the F6, but the F100 can do
just about anything the big boys can do for a whole lot cheaper and in some ways, better.
Note: I've used a lot of cameras over the years, and I mean A LOT. It is my love and my obsession.
And of course, I've taken lots of goofy, obligatory self-portraits with the gear. Here's a look at just
some of the gear I've used, and my impressions of them. This is a little bit of CAMERA PORN for you :-)
