Remembering 9/11

The tragic events of September 11, 2001, was the monumental
event of our times, just like Pearl Harbor or the JFK assasination
was to other generations.

Update: I had a much longer blog up, but I moved it into the archives, just too
personal.

Let's just take a moment of silence to remember, and respect the victims of the terrible
tragedy of that day.

Note: I took this shot using my very first digital camera, the Olympus C3000Z, which I bought
in 1999. Like many in the city, I felt compelled to go down to Ground Zero to connect
with, and to try to understand the reality of this incredible tragedy.

A jarring image, Sam. A vivid reminder of what was lost. A vote for all of the heroes of that day.

Your post is a great tribute to the awful memory of this tragic event and the evil and cowardly individuals who conspired to bring this about. Vote

Powerful image conveying the emotions of the that time. BV

Thanks for sharing your deeply personal account of this horrific event.

I actually didn't find out about what happened until I arrived at work the next day. As I was attending night classes when it happened. Rather than turning the radio on in the car on the way home I was listening new metal album that I had just bought and also on the way to work the next day. One strange thing that I did see after my night class finished was an Armed Personal Carrier speeding down the streets of Perth with soldiers on board ready for action. The next day I heard they were sent to guard the US Consulate in Perth.

sam, i love you so dearly, i know you are in NY..but strangely i never connected the points, that you have been, could have been in danger/killed..and that therefore
i would have never met you....zoe, your wife, dad and all the utterly lovable
people you introduced me/us in the past...i feel so grateful...just for that fact...
fate...fate.....so happy you and all the other living people around us right now at this moment, are still here for a while...to cheer us, make us happier - what a blessing.....
tons of love and blessings to everybody....

The only nice thing i can say about this is...
you are still among us and you must be counting your blessings.
We live in a sick world but thanks to you and many other PBasers,
we can see and feel and appreciate beauty in simple things around us.
I can never forget that tragic day...
