I used a blue LED to try to light the end of the graphite to create a strong blue effect but it only shows up as a faint blue splotch in this attempt.
The main light must have overpowered it. The orange color comes from a sandwiched set of graduated filters manually held in front of the lens.
I have images from this set that are even closer than this but you could not tell what the object was at all, so I am showing this one.
