Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Josh McCown threw for 141 yards and
three touchdowns to lead Oakland past Denver, 34-20, in a game where
rookie JaMarcus Russell made his debut for the Raiders.
McCown started the game behind center for Oakland but early in the
second quarter, Russell, the top pick in last April's draft, took the
field for the first time and appeared in two series. In limited action,
Russell completed 4- of-7 passes for 56 yards and added four rushing
yards on three carries.
Justin Fargas ran for 146 yards with a touchdown for the Raiders (4-8),
who have won two straight after six consecutive losses.
Tim Dwight, Zach Miller and Jerry Porter all caught touchdown passes for
Oakland, which ended a five-game losing streak to the Broncos.
Denver running back Travis Henry returned to the lineup after missing
the last three games with a torn posterior cruciate ligament and ran for
49 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
Jay Cutler completed 16-of-32 passes for 214 yards with no touchdowns
and two interceptions for the Broncos (5-7), who have lost two straight.
Brandon Stokley had three catches for 102 yards in the loss for Denver,
which had four turnovers.
